- Stop All The Happy

Yesterday a guy commented on my Winston Churchill post. He seemed to think the occasional optimistic asides were out of place. So in order to please people like him, I decided to knock it off with all the hope and gladness (and text).
Some months ago I emailed depressing stories to Justin and Cory. I can’t remember why or if there was even a reason. It’s not the point. Anyway, the subject line read, “Story To Darken Your Day,” and there were three of them. So, for those of you struggling against the weight of Friday cheerfulness, I read the first of these stories into Koelle’s fancy recorder. The link is below. Consider it my dreariness gift to you. I also snatched a bit of Matt Silver’s music for the intro and conclusion of the story. Matt’s unwitting gift to you. Sorry the story isn’t longer or sadder, but what can I say, I’m a pretty happy guy.

Well, it’s like you said. We took some sand paper, scrubbed off the paper textures, and replaced them with an orange gradient. Then we took the paper scraps, struck a match, burned them to ashes, pounded our chests and howled at the moon. What’s the problem?

Wow man! It rained all day after I read your story! Portland controls the weather?! Clean new look - I like it.
I laugh.
Thanks, I always need a little darkness — or rather, sternness.
