- HELEN OF …

This post is somewhat sparser than the previous ones. The topic “Helen of …” has turned out to be harder and somwhat less inspiring than you might think. Also, Work, folks leaving, and other elements have conspired against us. The few entries that that made it are the Marine entries. These are the few and the proud. They’ve weathered hardships and now they’re here for your viewing enjoyoment.
Since I failed to inspire with this week’s topic, next week’s is Apocalyptic Robots. It’ll bring submissions in like rain.
Here’s an imaginative one from Halley our intern. This is the thousand ships that launched a face.

This next one from illustrator Cory Godbey. Helen of the Miserable Show Opening.

The next is Helen of Toy. This is a girl who sets up toy soldiers to fight over her.

My favorite is the guy who kills himself to impress her.

Here are some of Justin’s preliminary sketches.

Finally he decided on the face that launched a thousand Chevys, “Helen of Spartanburg Auto Diesel Repair.”

And last of all is Koelle’s take-the-cake entry, “Helen of Higher Education.”
This is the lovely Helen S. Astin, psychologist, author, Professor Emeritus at UCLA, Senior Scholar at the Higher Education Research Institute, and all-around wonderfully smiley woman.

Well that’s all for this week. Tune in next week. Thanks.
