Flurry of Activity

Today at the new office, the construction workers were finishing up the drop ceilings, installing all the light switches, screwing in light bulbs, and prepping the bathroooms to have the floors put in. I’m sure I’m bugging them by going up to check on the space so often, but I can’t help myself. Its sort of like wanting to check your email or Facebook page over and over again throughout the day, just to see if something might be different than last time. Know what I mean?

This morning, Jamin, Stephanie, Matt Silver, and I met together to compile a list of marketing ideas for the upcoming books. We’re planning on doing our best to partner with educators, through classroom visits, readings, and learning-based components—for both Jack and Inar and Beowulf.

This afternoon, Zach and Matt Fisher and Cory Godbey were working on shooting a series of video podcasts for the upcoming Jack and Inar book. Doors slammed, phones rang, motorcycles drove by—-but none of that stopped these guys. They got a lot of footage shot, as far as I could tell.

Chris Koelle spent part of the afternoon compiling a few pieces of art for a new Top Shelf book in which he’s being featured.

This afternoon, all the designers are out in planning meetings with Matt Silver. Today is the first day for a new team member, Paul Johnson. He’s the twin brother of our web designer, Mark Johnson, and will be greatly helping us in the area of project planning, pricing, marketing for internal projects, trade shows, etc. He and Mark make a brilliant team. You should see how they work together. Last night I had the two of them over for some late evening french toast and eggs. Had a great discussion with them. Full of ideas.
