I’m no misogynist, but …

Because we’re preparing to reinvent our blog, it’s difficult to keep contributing to this one. If I think of a good idea, I pretty much stockpile it for the new one. Still, some of you (four or five of you) are kind enough to check the blog regularly, and we should honor your faithfulness with some updates. How can I update this blog without cannibalizing our new one? Easy. No more good posts. Only fourth rate posts! There will be plenty of time to be thoughtful and intentional on the new blog.

Cynicism

Diogenes is said to be the founder of Cynicism. He lived in near nakedness with dogs in ancient Greece. He did this intentionally because he thought that culture and custom corrupted a perfect unbroken creation. The term “cynic” derives from the Greek word “kynikos” the adjectival form of “kyon,” dog. Doggish Diogenes thought that we should imitate the dog’s independence from society. Such alienation from culture was progress, civilization was regress.

Circa History

We’ve been working for some time on the Circa History Website. It launches tomorrow, January 12th. Fortunately, this job fits Portland’s priorities like a glove. Our guys have contributed countless hours (actually, that’s probably not literally true, I’m sure somebody counted them) branding, concepting, coding, designing the site. We also provided the visuals and motion graphics (though not the sound) for two of the three commercials. I think the site benefits quite nicely from our interdiciplinary approach. Also, the site’s narrative elements overlap with our own narrative emphasis.

Finally!

The visionaries at Hasbro are finally getting the attention they deserve thanks to the folks at Boeing.

In 1982 Hasbro decided to put lasers on four-wheel-drive army vehicles.

25 years later, Boeing decided to to the same thing. The “Laser Avenger” can burn a hole through the casing of artillery and mortar rounds. Detonating them more or less instantly. GO JOE!
